Core Outcome Set (COS) Funding
In 2025 the network will provide funding for one COS award. This award is worth up to €10,000 (25% institutional overheads of direct project costs also available) and will provide funding to explore the need for a COS within any health related area or assist in the development of an ongoing COS for which no funding is available. This funding is available to research teams in University College Cork, University of Galway, Trinity College Dublin, University of Limerick and University College Dublin.
Scope of the current call
The scope of the current call is: To facilitate seed funding to explore the need for a COS within any health related area; or assist in the development of an ongoing COS for which no funding is available.
[Note: Applicants seeking funding to answer a methodological research question related to COS should apply via the HRB-TMRN / TMRP Working Group Project Seed Funding Stream and apply via the Outcomes Working Group].
Number of awards
One award of up to €10,000 (25% institutional overheads of direct project costs are also available) for up to 12 months in duration will be awarded in 2025. Applicants must be from one of the five eligible institutions; University of Galway, UCC, TCD, UL and UCD.
Who should apply?
Trial investigator teams with an interest in improving reported trial outcomes are invited to apply.
There are no eligibility restrictions for the lead applicant (e.g. previous grant holder) and early stage career researchers are welcome to apply.
Eligibility criteria
- Applicants must provide evidence of mentoring arrangements (where appropriate) to provide academic and clinical/practice-based support;
- Research funding awarded must be managed in a separate reportable account;
- Applications must include a named collaborator from the Medical Research Council (MRC) National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Trials Methodology Research Partnership Outcomes Working Group. A request for a collaborator can be made by forwarding an abstract (300 words) of proposed COS work to the HRB-Trials Methodology Research Network at hrb-tmrn@universityofgalway.ie prior to 13th January 2025.
